Benares is supposed to be older than the traditions itself and that is the reason why it holds such an important place in the Hindu Mythology. According to a legend, Lord Shiva created this place some 5000 years ago. Famous Ghats and Rivers
Another name of Varanasi is Kashi, which reflects a perfect combination of supernatural, metaphysical and physical elements. The Hindus believe that getting a dip in the Ganges River can liberate one’s soul from this world to the Heaven. This River is also believed to purify the soul from all kinds of sin. Many of the Hindus visit here frequently to achieve the ultimate destiny. The famous “Aarti” at the main Ganges Ghat is not to be missed.
Besides the famous Ghat of this river, there are almost 100 other ghats by the side of the Ganges. Some of the popular Ghats that should be visited while being in Varanasi are Manikarnika Ghat, Dasaswamedh Ghat, Assi Ghat, Kabir Ghat and Harischandra Ghat. Varanasi has inspired a number of poets in the Indian literature and some of the Ghats have been named on their names only. Some of these Ghats are used for bathing and others for cremation purposes.
Temples in Varanasi
As said, this place is considered one of the holiest places in the Hindu Mythology and that is why the tourists have an abundance of temples here. You can feel the aura of the place once you enter it; the essence of spirituality can be felt in almost every nook and corner. The Ganges River is most looked after in this city but there are many other temples also that have become the center of attraction for the tourists over a period of time. Here, the tourists get the privilege to see Hindu, Buddhists and Jain Temples. The architecture of Benares is also reflected in the Buddha Stupas and the other Jain temples. Some of the temples are a mixture of Hindu and Mughal artistry.
Some of the most popular temples in Varanasi are Sankat Mochan temple, Vishwanath temple, Tulsi Manas, Durga temple, and Bharat Mata temple. Also, Varanasi boasts of Alamgir mosque which is complete blend of the Hindu and the Mughal architecture styles that attracts a number of customers every year.
Varanasi has a rich culture and the city’s name is found in many of the Hindu sacred books. It is a great place for the tourists as it is the perfect manifestation of Hindu Mythology in the country.

Tour Day 03 | Delhi to Jaipur This morning after breakfast you will drive to the pink city of Jaipur, On arrival check into your hotel and rest of the day is at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel in Jaipur. |
Tour Day 04 | Jaipur City Tour This morning after breakfast visit the Amber fort, built in 16th century, enjoy an elephant ride at Amber. Drive past the Hawa Mahal-a Palace of winds. In the afternoon you will visit the city palace and museum, walk to adjacent Jantar Mantar an astronomical observatory. Rest of the evening is at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel in Jaipur. |
Tour Day 05 | Jaipur to Agra This morning after breakfast you will drive to Mughal city Agra and check into your hotel. Enroute you will visit the Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red sandstone city built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight at hotel. |
Tour Day 06 | Agra-Visit to Tajmahal & Overnight train to Vasranasi This Morning after breakfast visit the Agra fort, built by the great Emperor Akbar, and the famous Taj Mahal-the symbol of love, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. You may also visit Dayal Bagh. By evening you will be transferred to board the train to Varanasi. Overnight in Train. |
Tour Day 07 | Varanasi City Tour On arrival at Varanasi, pick up and transfer to Hotel. This afternoon visit the Bharat Mata Temple, Durga temple, Tulsi Manas mandir, Banaras Hindu University which has an art gallery, Kashi Vishwanath Temple etc. Overnight at Hotel. |
Tour Day 08 | Boat Ride & visit to Sarnath Early morning boat excursion on the holy river Ganges to see the bathing ghats and cremation site. Watching people bathing and worshipping at the ghats is one of the most extraordinary experiences of a visit to India. This afternoon visit Sarnath, the Buddhist city, where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple and the museum. Return to hotel for overnight stay. |
Tour Day 09 | Varanasi to Delhi by Flight & Transfer to International Airport Today you will be transferred to Airport to take a flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi Airport assistance in transferring to International Airport to board your onward flight. |
