History
Before the 19th century, Kashmir was referred to only the valley between the Himalayas and the Pir Panjal range. However, since then, Kashmir refers to Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir (Kashmir valley, Ladakh and Jammu), the Pakistani administered provinces of the Northern Areas along with the Azad Kashmir and also the Chinese administered region of Aksai Chin. A number of Hindu myths and legends are associated with the origin of Kashmir and Srinagar. Muslim rulers and Mughal Emperors ruled in this place, before the Independence. Until when, the Muslims and the Hindus of the place lived in total harmony. All the disputes and violence that is still prevalent in some parts of Kashmir started under the British Raj, under the pretext of asking for a different country for Muslims.
Places To Explore In Kashmir

The other tourist places are Leh, Zanskar, Kargil, Dachigam National Park, Overa Wildlife Sanctuary, and Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve. Kashmir has a good wildlife being kept alive in the National Parks. Kashmir is also famous for its pilgrimages. It has a mixture of Hindu, Islam and Buddhism and that is the why the common pilgrimages include Amarnath, Hazratbal, Charar-e-Sharif, Kheer Bhawani and the famous Vaishno Devi.
Fairs and Festivals
Coming from the era where every religion was welcomed in Kashmir, this place still celebrates a number of different fairs and festivals, which are the manifestation of the rich culture. These are Losar, Lohri, Purmandal Mela, Shivratri, Besakhi, Bahu Mela, Chaitra Chaudash, Hemis, Id-ul-Zuha, Ladakh Festival, Jhiri Mela, Id-ul-Fitr, and Diwali. The best part is that all these fairs and festivals are celebrated in different months of the year. In this way, Kashmir is always in a jolly mood to celebrate and enjoy life!

Tour Day 02 | City Tour of Delhi This morning after breakfast first you will visit old Delhi. The Raj Ghat, Red fort & Jama Masjid are important places to visit, you may also visit Chandni Chowk, spice market etc. Later on proceed to visit the New Delhi. The Qutub Minar, tallest stone tower in India, imposing India Gate and the Rastrapathi Bhawan, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Lotus Temple and, newly built Akshardham temple are of much significance. By evening return to your hotel for overnight stay. |
Tour Day 03 | Delhi to Agra This morning after breakfast you will drive to Mughal city Agra and check into your hotel. Enroot you may also visit Mathura-the birth place of Lord Krishana. This afternoon visit the Agra fort, built by the great Emperor Akbar, and the famous Taj Mahal-the symbol of love, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. You may also visit Dayal Bagh. By evening return to your hotel for overnight stay. |
Tour Day 04 | Agra to Jaipur This morning after breakfast you will drive to the pink city of Jaipur, enroute you will visit the Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red sandstone city built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. On arrival check into your hotel and rest of the day is at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel in Jaipur. |
Tour Day 05 | Jaipur City Tour This morning after breakfast visit the Amber fort, built in 16th century, enjoy an elephant ride at Amber. Drive past the Hawa Mahal-a Palace of winds. In the afternoon you will visit the city palace and museum, walk to adjacent Jantar Mantar an astronomical observatory. Rest of the evening is at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel in Jaipur. |
Tour Day 06 | Jaipur to Delhi Today you will be transferred back to Delhi; rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight at hotel. |
Tour Day 07 | Delhi to Srinagar by Flight Today you will be transferred to Delhi airport to take a flight to Srinagar. On arrival at Srinagar, pick up and transfer to houseboat. Tour Day 08 | Srinagar-Visit to Mughal Gardens & Shikara Ride This morning after breakfast visit world famous Mughal Gardens visiting the Nishant Bagh (The garden of pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love), The Chashme Shahi etc. Return to houseboat for hot lunch. After Lunch visit Shankaracharya Temple and in the evening take a Shikara ride on Dal Lake to enjoy the beauty that God has graced this city with, which is often compared to Venice sunset. Tour Day 09 | Srinagar—Sonmarg—Srinagar This morning take a full day excursion to Sonmarg, a 3 hrs drive through the picturesque scenery will take you to Sonmarg 2690 Meters (Meadow of Gold). One can ride on horse to visit Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains round the year. In the evening return to houseboat to stay overnight. |
Tour Day 10 | Srinagar Gulmarg Srinagar This morning after breakfast leave for Gulmarg which is one of the most beautiful summer resort in the valley. It is also popular for its highest golf course in the world and skiing during the winter season. One can have Gondola ride (cable car) from Gulmarg to Khalinmarg. Tour Day 11 | Srinagar-Pahalgam-Srinagar This morning after breakfast drive to Pahalgam 2440 Meters. On the way visit Saffron field and Avantipur ruins, which is eleven hundred years old temple?
