Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty
Karnataka is one of the best tourist places in India as it has a lot of famous cities that have loads of things to offer to the tourists. Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty are the three main cities that are looked for vacations while being in Karnataka. These three cities are popularly known for a number of unusual tourist attractions and a rich and colorful culture.
History
Bangalore – Recently Bangalore has become one of the IT hubs in India with numerous public sectors like telecommunications, steel industries, software companies etc coming to this place. It is the state capital of Karnataka. Bangalore was ruled by a number of Empires in its primitive years such as Western Gangas, Cholas, Hoysala Empire, and Vijayanagara Empire. In the year 1799, the British India incorporated Bangalore after the death of Tippu Sultan. And it was in the 19th century when Bangalore became a twin city, constituting “pete” with Kannadigas and “cantonment” with Tamils.
Mysore – Mysore is the second largest city in Karnataka. The Hindi legends say that Mahishasura ruled the near by areas of Mysore. It was ruled by the Vijayanagara Empire and later on was taken over by the very famous Tipu Sultan, who is known as the “Tiger of Mysore”. After the defeat and death of Tipu Sultan, Mysore was taken under the British administration. Earlier, it used to be the capital of the state but gradually Bangalore was made the state capital.
Ooty – Ooty is used as the short form for Ootacamund, which is the district capital of eth Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu. The Chera Empire ruled these Nilgiri hills in the ancient times. A few more dynasties ruled this very area before it fell into the hands of Tipu Sultan who made it a part of the Kingdom Of Mysore. British India took over the city when Tipu Sultan was defeated in the 18th century.
Tourist Places and Culture
Bangalore – Some of the buildings in Bangalore are famous for their architecture and that is why they are considered tourist places. These include the Vidhana Soudha and the Attara Kacheri (the High court). There is a famous Bull temple that is known for the gigantic image of Nandi (a celestial bull in the Hindu Mythology). Another place to visit is Karnataka folk museum where you can find the rich culture of Karnataka. Jawahar Nehru Planetarium is another worth visiting place with its magnificent domes. Other places are Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Venkatappa Art Gallery, Lalbagh Gardens, Bugle Rock and Musical fountain.
Mysore – Mysore too offers a number of places such as Vrindavan Gardens, known for the ecstatic view of a combination of color, light, water and musical illumination. You should also visit Melkote, Somnathpur, Talkad, and Bandipura (for wildlife). Another important place here is Belur. Bleur is located some 150kms from the main city and is famous for the special stone work in this temple.
Ooty – This “Queen of hill stations in India” has various beautiful places for those who love to be close to nature. Additionally, the pleasant weather adds to the temptation to spend vacations in this small city in Karnataka. Botanica Gardens are the most famous here, lying in an area of 50 acres, these gardens have a huge variety of flora and fauna. Other places are the Ooty lake Lamb’s rock, Kodanadu’s view point and Rangaswamy peak.

Tour Day 02 | City Tour of Delhi This morning after breakfast first you will visit old Delhi. The Raj Ghat, Red fort & Jama Masjid are important places to visit, you may also visit Chandni Chowk, spice market etc. Later on proceed to visit the New Delhi. The Qutub Minar, tallest stone tower in India, imposing India Gate and the Rastrapathi Bhawan, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Lotus Temple and, newly built Akshardham temple are of much significance. By evening return to your hotel for overnight stay. |
Tour Day 03 | Delhi to Jaipur This morning after breakfast you will drive to the pink city of Jaipur, On arrival check into your hotel and rest of the day is at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel in Jaipur. |
Tour Day 04 | Jaipur City Tour This morning after breakfast visit the Amber fort, built in 16th century, enjoy an elephant ride at Amber. Drive past the Hawa Mahal-a Palace of winds. In the afternoon you will visit the city palace and museum, walk to adjacent Jantar Mantar an astronomical observatory. Rest of the evening is at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel in Jaipur. |
Tour Day 05 | Jaipur to Agra This morning after breakfast you will drive to Mughal city Agra and check into your hotel. Enroute you will visit the Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red sandstone city built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight at hotel. |
Tour Day 06 | Agra-Visit to Tajmahal & Transfer to Delhi This Morning after breakfast visit the Agra fort, built by the great Emperor Akbar, and the famous Taj Mahal-the symbol of love, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. You may also visit Dayal Bagh. By evening you will be transferred back to Delhi. Overnight at hotel. |
Tour Day 07 | Delhi to Bangalore by Flight & Transfer to Mysore This morning you will be transferred to Delhi airport to take a flight to Bangalore. On arrival at Bangalore airport pick up and transfer to Mysore- enroute visiting Tipu Sultans summer Palace at Srirangapatnam. Upon arrival in Mysore, check into your hotel. Overnight at hotel. |
Tour Day 08 | Mysore City Tour This morning after breakfast proceed on a city tour of Mysore. Mysore, the old capital town, has the magnificent Maharajas Palace, Chamundi Hill and the Art Gallery, with a fine collection of paintings & musical instruments. Tour Day 09 | Mysore to Ooty This morning after breakfast drive to Ooty. The Queen of Hill stations nestled in the Nilgiri range and popularly known as Ooty. A Britisher Mr. John Sullivan discovered Ooty in 1821, the sheer grandeur of this romantic city is enough to drain anyone out. Afternoon arrive at hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
