Ooty – Ooty is used as the short form for Ootacamund, which is the district capital of eth Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu. The Chera Empire ruled these Nilgiri hills in the ancient times. British India took over the city when Tipu Sultan was defeated in the 18th century.
